MAGNIFICENT… Located in the stunningly beautiful Algarve region of Portugal, Monte Rei Golf Course is a world-class golfing destination that offers golfers an experience they will never forget. Designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, Monte Rei Golf Course is a par 72 course that stretches over 7,100 yards. The course is designed to be challenging for even the most experienced golfers, with narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and lightning-fast greens. Monte Rei has 86 bunkers (wild). Each hole is designed to take advantage of the natural terrain, with sweeping views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The holes were delicately placed in each of their own valleys. Even more special, each group is sent out every 12 minutes so it feels like you and your group have the entire course to yourselves. The course is located in the foothills of the Serra do Caldeirão mountains, with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding hills and valleys.

Golfers can enjoy the warm Portuguese sun and fresh mountain air as they play, surrounded by olive groves, cork trees, and native wildlife. The course is also home to a variety of bird species, including the rare Bonelli's eagle.

Highlight Hole

Hole #12

Hole #12: This par-4 hole measures 344 yards from the championship tees and really tempts the long hitters to try and fly the green. This is one of the most visually stunning holes on the entire course. It’s a classic risk vs reward hole layout. Lay up and have a nice short approach shot, or drive the green over the beautiful crescent shaped lake and go for an eagle. Most will opt into the safe route with a wood or a long iron off the tee, but you’ll leave Monte Rei feeling like you could have got away with one at the 12th if weather was favorable. Definitely a chance to score low here, and maybe a perfect time to have a cocktail to build up some additional courage.

Resort Accommodations

Monte Rei is filled with 1-4 bedroom villas you can stay at on the property.

“At the heart of each villa, comfortable open-plan living spaces make full use of the natural light, warmth and views. Elsewhere, each double-bedroom comes with its own en-suite bathroom complete with underfloor heating; kitchens are fully-fitted and equipped with the latest white goods, and each villa has its own dedicated fiber-optic broadband service”
